Ed Chang - Head Coach/ Sabre
Coach Chang served as Head Coach for the West Windsor Plainsboro High School South fencing team from 2009 - 2014. He's coached both the boys' and girls' squads to district and state championships. In 2010 the local Princeton paper awarded him "Coach of the Year". Coach Chang holds degrees from Rutgers and NYU, and taught high school English in Red Bank, NJ.
Michael Bindas - Épée
Coach Bindas has been a fencing coach for nearly two decades. He had been interested in martial arts and duelist sports, and had studied sword making in Texas for several years, but discovered his passion for fencing after a move to France. He studied all three weapons there with Maitre d’Armes, Eric Desperier, and taught the art of fencing at le Club d’Escrime d’Annemasse.
Ya Lu — Foil
Coach Ya Lu started fencing as a sophomore in high school. She coached at Bernards High School during the 2013-2014 season (2nd at State, 1st Girl’s Foil Squad) and was a volunteer coach at Drew University for the 2017-2018 season. She Studied at Rutgers University.
Shakil Uddin — Foil
Coach Uddin is a Montclair High School alumnus, Class of 2009. He captained the MHS Fencing team in 2008-2009. This season marks his 3rd season on the coaching staff. When he isn’t fencing, he is the Senior Creative Producer at Compass Creative Studio and the Principal Creative at SMOKE NYC.
